Ski ascent of Damavand 5671 m/ Iran Mountains and culture in Iran The Damavand, 5671 m, is a real showpiece ski touring five-thousander, with an even pyramid shape and “ideal slopes” for experienced ski tourers. From Tehran you drive briefly towards North Tehran out to Mount Tochal 4470 meters on the mountain. First overnight stay in Schirpala Huts with a fantastic view of Tehran. to the nearby Dabarar Mountains, where you adjust to the altitude on two four-thousanders. Then you switch to Demavand, 5671 m, and climb the highest mountain in Iran on the southern route from Bergah Sevom Hut, 4010 m. If things don't work out on the first day, a reserve day is planned for the summit. You can then delve as deeply into Persia's fascinating history and culture as you like, with sightseeing in Tehran and especially on the optional tour that visits the magnificent cultural sites of Shiraz, Persepolis and Isfahan. So far, almost all participants in our ski touring groups have reached the summit.

DIFFICULTY

Level 3: moderate
These are ski trips with skiing in easy terrain with now and then somewhat more challenging passages. On the daily stages, a maximum of 1,400 meters in altitude are covered in up to 8 hours. A good physical condition is required.

Day 1: Flight via Istanbul to Tehran and arrival in Tehran (at 4 a.m.), drive to the hotel, after sleeping in and having a late breakfast, we can look at a few interesting sights in the 12 million metropolis of Tehran: the "Great Bazaar" , with a length of almost 10 km, one of the largest in the world or the Shah Palace. After we have gained our first impressions of this interesting city, we have dinner in a typical restaurant and spend the night in a *** hotel.
Day 2: Drive from Tehran to Rudbarak, approx. 200 km to the northwest (approx. 5 hours / 1500 m) to the Takt-e-Soleyman mountains - with the second highest mountain in Iran, the Alam Kuh (4850 m). You will spend the night in a guest house.
Day 3: Tangeh Base Camp – Galou Valley (2750 m). Continue by car to the snow line, load the equipment onto the mules, climb on foot or on skis to the base camp (approx. 3 hours), overnight in tents.
Day 4 and Day 5: Some four-thousanders can be climbed from the base camp. We choose our destination depending on the weather, snow conditions and avalanche situation. At the
Day 6: after the tour we leave or descend. Drive to Rudbarak, where we will spend the night in the guesthouse we are already familiar with.
Day 7: We set off early; in a 5-hour drive we reach the Caspian Sea, the largest inland body of water in the world. There we treat ourselves to a longer break before we head back up into the mountains to Rineh at the foot of Damavand. We spend the night in a mountaineering accommodation in Polur (journey time approx. 1 hour).
Day 8: Drive with off-road vehicles to the Gusfandsara mosque (3200 m), the starting point of the Damavand climb. Climb to the Damavand Hut at 4250 m, where you will also spend the night (4–5 hours/1250 m).
Day 9: Davmavand ascent (5671 m) - we set off early in the morning; crampons may be required depending on the conditions. After an ascent time of approx. 6 - 8 hours, we enjoy the view of the peaks of the Elbrus Mountains below us. We ski down to the snow line, continue to the Gusfandsara mosque, from there we drive with the off-road vehicles to the Polur mountaineering accommodation, where we spend the night.
Day 10: Reserve day (Damavand ascent) or we drive to the nearby "hot springs" to relax, look around in the villages, gain impressions. We will again spend the night in the Polur mountaineering accommodation.
Day 11: Return trip to Tehran in approx. 2 hours, we still have the afternoon at leisure, the interesting city certainly offers us plenty of opportunities for sightseeing or shopping, overnight stay in a *** hotel.
Day12: Drive to the airport - flight home Possible culture extension.
